I’m sick of social media. I’m sick of the divisiveness. I’m sick of the allure of people who I once admired or respected turning into pitty. Bring back Myspace, was trending on Twitter tonight. It brought me back to the idea that connections matter. Meaningful connections. Ideas matter. Problems matter. Solutions matter. Grounded in facts. We have turned into a society, separated by nothing but disagree on everything — the core disagreement, lately; decency, fairness, facts and, humanity. Things that matter. Things that should be important and in common for all of us.
So, as I sit 60 days free from the chains of social media (well, sort of, I refused to delete Twitter), I feel free. I feel inspired to use technology again, though not for the same purpose as before; I feel inspired to use technology again to learn, read, feel inspired (and maybe inspire where I can..).
Tonight was the first night in over 60 + days I picked up my Surface Pro. I spent 45 minutes on Medium — Learned a few things — and came to realize — I felt good. I’m excited about Medium. Hope to make it a home, a safe place, free from the bullshit plaguing other platforms.
I also wonder, will anyone ever actually see this?
